Cyberabad police invoke PD Act against 5 dacoits in Chandanagar Khazana Jewellery robbery case
Hyderabad: Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Dr. M. Ramesh on Friday invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against five inter-state dacoit offenders who were involved in the sensational daylight dacoity at Khazana Jewellery, Chandanagar, on August 12, 2025.
How was the robbery committed?
The five accused involved are Abhishek Pandey, Praduman Kumar Singh, Aashish Kumar Singh, Rohit Kumar Rajak and Shivam Pandey.
The police said that the accused entered the shop and fired rounds at the staff with deadly firearms. They threatened other employees at gunpoint and looted gold-coated silver ornaments.
Who are the accused?
Abhishek Pandey is the kingpin of the gang. All members of the group hail from Bihar and are involved in multiple property offences involving deadly firearms.
They have been frequently arrested by the Bihar Police. To evade arrest, they planned to commit property offences in Hyderabad. They subsequently arrived in Hyderabad in possession of firearms. The gang conducted a recce and identified Khazana Jewellery at Chandanagar as their target.
On August 8, 2025, they executed their dacoity plan by firing rounds at the employees, threatening the staff at gunpoint, and looting gold-coated silver ornaments.
Subsequently, the Chandanagar Police successfully apprehended the accused, recovered the stolen ornaments and seized three deadly firearms from their possession, which were used in the offence. They were thereafter remanded to judicial custody.
With a view to preventing them from repeatedly engaging in criminal activities, which are prejudicial to the maintenance of public order, the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, invoked the PD Act against them, the police said in a public statement.
