Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police arrested an individual for allegedly posting abusive, defamatory and obscene content against actress Anasuya Bharadwaj on social media platforms.

The accused, identified as Janardhan, was arrested following a complaint filed by the actress alleging that several social media users had been posting objectionable comments and circulating offensive content targeting her, damaging her reputation and dignity.

Complaint filed over online harassment

According to Cybercrime Police, the complaint stated that since December 23, 2025, multiple individuals and social media pages had been posting defamatory and abusive comments against the actress on various online platforms.

Based on the complaint, police registered Crime No. 81/2026 under Sections 75, 79, 336(4), 351, and 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 66E and 67 of the Information Technology Act, 2000.

Accused circulated AI-fabricated video

The police apprehended Janardhan (29), a resident of Indranagar in Hyderabad and a native of Pedda Jutoor village in Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa district.

Police said the accused operated an Instagram account @mmtt_official, through which he allegedly circulated electronic content, including an AI-fabricated video targeting the actress. The content was posted and shared on social media platforms with the intent to defame her, officials said.

Police apprehended him at his residence on March 12. During verification, officials confirmed that the objectionable comment had been posted from his mobile phone. The device has been sent to forensic experts for further examination.
