Cyberabad police recover 310 stolen, lost mobile phones worth Rs 95 L in 30 days
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad Police successfully traced and recovered as many as 310 stolen and lost mobile phones using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal in 30 days.
This procedure completed the seventh phase of mobile phone recovery. The recovered phones, worth Rs 95 lakh, were handed over to their rightful owners on Monday at the Cyberabad Commissioner's Office.
DCP LC Naik stressed the importance of promptly reporting lost or stolen mobile phones, either at the nearest police station or through the CEIR portalāavailable across all States and Union Territories. He highlighted the value of mobile phones, which often store sensitive data and personal memories, and reiterated the portalās role in preventing misuse of stolen devices and aiding quick recoveries.
The DCP further urged the public to remain vigilant against cyber fraud and avoid clicking on suspicious links. Despite increasing awareness, many still lack knowledge on safeguarding their mobile data post-theft. He also recommended the installation of CCTV cameras in residential colonies and community areas as a preventive measure.
Recipients expressed their gratitude to the Cyberabad Police for their efficient and timely action. One recipient, a delivery worker, shared, āTwo months ago, I lost my mobile phone while on my way to make a delivery. I filed a complaint at the police station. Soon after, I was informed that my phone had been recovered. I am truly grateful to the Cyberabad Police for their swift response.ā
Another recipient shared, āI lost my phone six months ago, and the police recovered it. Then, two months ago, it was stolen again. I didnāt expect to get it back this time, but the police recovered and returned it once more. I am incredibly thankful for their remarkable efforts.ā
DCP LC Naik commended the dedication and coordination of the police personnel for their outstanding contributions in making this initiative a success.
