Cyberabad police seize 214 kg ganja, arrest 5 persons

The drug was being transported from Sileru in Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra via Hyderabad. All seized items, including the drug, is worth Rs. 69.90 lakh.

Cyberabad police seize 214 kg ganja, arrest 5 persons

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police on Monday seized 214 kg of ganja and arrested five inter-state drug peddlers. The drug was being transported from Sileru in Andhra Pradesh to Maharashtra via Hyderabad.

The police also seized Rs. 2,10,000 cash, five mobile phones, and three cars. All seized items, including the drug, is worth Rs. 69.90 lakh.

The sleuths of the special operations team, Shamshabad zone, along with the Kothur police nabbed Baba sow Chandekar (45), Phukmali Tirumali Balu (39), Ganesh Nolari (39), and Rajendra (45) of Maharashtra and Maloth Vinod (28) of Telangana. Five others are absconding.

About a week ago, Chandekar, Phukmali, Ganesh, and Rajendra contacted Rathod Ravi of Sanga Reddy to purchase 250 kg of ganja. Accordingly, Rathod contacted the main supplier Ravi, a resident of Warangal, and Nagaraju of Suryapet district in Telangana. Nagaraju in turn got in touch with his supplier and ordered 250 kg of ganja.




As surveillance in both Telangana and AP has been tightened, Ravi engaged four other persons to transport the ganja from Sileru agency area to Ahmednagar in Maharashtra.

On 16 January, Ravi, along with three others, went to Sileru in a car and parked it in a remote place in the forest of Sileru agency area. The supplier took the car and loaded it with 107 packets of ganja (each containing two kg). Later, the supplier parked the car at the same place and the gang collected it and left. Meanwhile, Ravi escorted the loaded vehicle from Bhadrachalam to Hyderabad.

On Ravi's instruction, Chandekar, Phukmali, Ganesh, and Rajendra came to Hyderabad to receive the consignment. They received the ganja and met Rathod and Vinod to load the contraband into their cars on the outskirts of Hyderabad. There they were caught.
