Cyberabad saw 218% increase in cyber crimes in 2021

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad commissionerate saw a whopping 218% increase in cyber crimes in 2021. Around 3,854 cyber crime cases were reported this year compared to 1,213 in 2020.

Meanwhile, Cyberabad saw a 13.24% rise in crimes in 2021. Around 30,954 crimes were reported in Cyberabad compared to 27,336 in 2020.

A total of 24,675 crimes relating to the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Special and Local Laws (SLL) were reported in 2021 which is 17.51% higher than the previous year. In 2020, 20,999 such cases were reported.

There was also a slight (0.4%) increase in bodily crimes. Around 2,598 bodily crimes were reported in 2021.

Fatal road accidents were down by 2% in 2021. Around 712 people lost their lives this year in the Cyberabad commissionerate.

Meanwhile, crimes against women rose by 2% in Cyberabad. Around 2,621 crimes against women were registered this year as against 2,572 in 2020.

Also, there was an increase of 39% in economic offences. Around 413 cases of economic offences were registered in 2021 as against 296 in 2020.

Crimes against weaker sections decreased by 10% in 2021. Only 197 such cases were reported this year. The number was 219 in 2020.
