Hyderabad: The Rachakonda cyber crime police arrested a cyberstalker on 19 December for harassing women by sending obscene photos and voice messages on WhatsApp.

The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Shyam of Santhosh Nagar under Bhongiri of Nalgonda District. A phone and a SIM card were seized from him.

Shyam, a Chinese fast-food centre worker at Turkapally took the victim's phone number from her sister's mobile phone without her knowledge. In the month of December 2020, he called the victim from his mobile number to which the victim did not respond.

According to police the accused downloaded some obscene pictures of unknown women from the Internet and on the midnight of January 2 sent to the victim through his WhatsApp account, Also he sent vulgar and abusive voice messages to the victim. He continued to harass the victim with sexual remarks against her character and reputation.

Based on the technical evidence, the police apprehended the accused at Turkapally and was produced for judicial remand.
