Kurnool: Kurnool police arrested two persons in connection with the killing of a Dalit physiotherapist Adam Smith at Adoni town in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.

The arrested accused include Smith's father-in-law and another person.

The accused were identified as Chinna Eeranna and his brother Pedda Eeranna – both residents of Gurazala town in Guntur district.

Adoni Two Town police said that the duo followed the victim who was returning home for lunch from Sridevi Nursing Home. Police said they rammed his head with an iron pipe causing him to fall from his bike. They then took a boulder and smashed Smith's head causing a fatal injury.

The duo managed to flee from the spot after few people spotted them while committing the crime. Adam Smith eventually succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a local government hospital.

Adam Smith's wife Maheshwari said that they had already sought police protection after her family members threatened them some weeks ago. She said that she was in a relationship with Smith for the past eight years and chose to marry only after finishing her studies.

"My parents were opposed to our relationship because Smith was a Dalit and I belonged to the Kuruva community (OBC). Love is beyond community and boundaries. But my parents didn't understand and they killed my husband" said Maheshwari.
