DCA raids in Telangana, drugs worth Rs 2.33 crores seized

Hyderabad: Drugs Control Administration (DCA) and Prohibition & Excise Department have busted illegal facilities manufacturing prohibited 3-MMC and Alpha-PiHP drugs.

Drugs worth Rs. 2.33 crores were seized during the raids in Sangareddy and Ranga Reddy districts.

Illicit Manufacturing Uncovered

Sleuths raided Medchem Labs in Sangareddy district and Vanamali Organics Pvt Ltd. in Ranga Reddy district. At Medchem Labs, officers uncovered the manufacturing of Alpha-PiHP, a psychostimulant drug listed under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.

Vanamali Organics Pvt Ltd. was found manufacturing 3-methylmethcathinone (3-MMC), another prohibited substance under the same act.

Significant Seizures

During the operation, officials seized substantial quantities of the illicit substances. At Medchem Labs, 2.850 kgs of Alpha-PiHP worth Rs. 1.19 crores were confiscated, while at Vanamali Organics Pvt Ltd., 11.5 kgs of 3-MMC valued at Rs. 1.14 crores were seized.

In total, stocks worth Rs. 2.33 crores were recovered, dealing a significant blow to the illicit drug trade.

V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, Director General of the Drugs Control Administration and Director of Prohibition and Excise highlighted the grave consequences of illicit drug abuse, emphasizing the risks posed to physical and mental health. He underscored the prevalence of addiction, overdose, and various health complications associated with drug abuse.

Legal Action Taken

Following the raids, legal action has been initiated against the individuals involved in the illicit drug manufacturing. Peddolla Sreenivas, Managing Partner of Medchem Labs, and K.V. Rajagopal, Vanamali Organics Pvt Ltd. Production Manager, have been arrested. Cases have been registered under Section 8(c) r/w 22(c) of the NDPS Act.
