DCA seizes fake rheumatism cure Rumarich Capsules in RR District

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration (DCA), Telangana, seized stocks of ‘Rumarich Capsules,’ being sold under a false claim that it can treat rheumatism and arthritis.
The DCA officials found Rumarich capsules were being sold as an Ayurvedic medicine, in Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar Mandal, Ranga Reddy District, as a 'cure' for rheumatism. This is against the guidelines in the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
On November 18, the DCA officials received information that drugs called Rumarich Capsules were being sold with labels containing misleading and objectionable advertisements stating that they treat rheumatic and arthritic conditions.
L Raju, drugs inspector, Hayathnagar, carried out the raid. He said that further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders. Persons who make misleading advertisements regarding drugs for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders are punishable under Drugs and Page 3 of 3 Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, with imprisonment which may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both.
Public urged to report suspicious drug activities
The DCA encourages the public to report any suspected manufacturing activity related to drugs, including narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, in residential, commercial or industrial areas, as well as any other complaints regarding illegal activities concerning medicines, through the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, toll-free number 1800-599-6969, operational from 10:30 am to 5 pm on all working days.
