Hyderabad: A disturbing incident occurred at the UIDAI Regional Office’s Aadhaar Enrollment Centre in Mythrivanam, Ameerpet, where a city-based doctor and his family were allegedly assaulted by staff from a nearby office.

According to a complaint filed with the Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar Police, Dr K Krishna, 38, a general surgeon and resident of Nallakunta, visited the Aadhaar centre on Monday around 3:20 pm along with his wife and their two children, aged 6 and 4, to complete Aadhaar enrollment formalities.

While they were waiting for their token number, the doctor’s 6-year-old child, who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and is hyperactive, began playing in the corridor. At that time, a man and a woman reportedly exited a nearby room. As the child opened a door, the woman rushed toward him, and the man allegedly slapped the child and verbally abused the mother.

The doctor’s child was neurodivergent

Dr Krishna intervened and requested them to be considerate toward children. However, he was allegedly pushed into a nearby room by the man and woman, where a third individual was present. The three reportedly assaulted him by pushing, kicking and scratching. His wife was also allegedly assaulted during the altercation.

When Dr Krishna tried to leave the room, he was pushed back inside and further abused. He stated that both he and his family were verbally and physically assaulted, and that the incident left his neurodivergent child emotionally traumatised.

Sanjeeva Reddy Nagar Sub Inspector Sudheer Reddy said, ā€œBased on the complaint, a case has been registered under section 126(2), 115(2), 292, 76 R/w 3(5) BNS against three individuals — Samuel, Ramadevi, and Venkat Reddy — who are said to be employees of the horticulture department working on the same floor as the Aadhaar centre.ā€
