Domalguda police nab two who stole Rs 17 lakh and faked accident to mislead probe
Hyderabad: On Thursday, Domalguda Police apprehended two persons who had stolen Rs 17 lakh of company money and pretended to be in an accident to cover up. The total amount was recovered from them along with other valuables such as cell phones and vehicles.
The accused has been identified as Jethin Raj Yadav (21) living in Moosarambagh and Souda Abhilash (18) living in Malakpet.
Case details
On Thursday, Domalguda police received a complaint from a chit fund businessman from Malakpet that he had hired Jethin Raj Yadav as a collection boy for his chit fund business branches. He was staying in a rented home in Moosarambagh. He has been in the job for six months until then.
On Wednesday, Jethin was sent from the Abids office to go to Jubilee Hills to collect an amount from Pankaj Agarwal. At approximately 7 pm, Jethin reached the temple and collected the Rs 17 lakh from Pankaj and placed it in a bag.
Subsequently, at around 8:15 pm, the complainant made a phone call to Jethin to inquire about his location. He informed that he was at Himayatnagar and would be reaching in 15 minutes. However, he did not arrive. After 20 minutes, he attempted to contact him again, but his phone was switched off.
Later, he contacted his father and was informed that Jethin had been in an accident at Upper Tank Bund and that the bag containing the cash was missing.
During the enquiry, the supposed victim, i.e. the A1, was questioned, and the version of the A1 was contradictory and suspicious. Immediately, teams were sent to verify the same.
The local enquiries and CCTV footage have proved that A1 has pulled up a story to create a scene of theft of cash when he accidentally fell off his bike on the Tank Bund. He, however, after collecting the amount from Pankaj, handed over the bag to A2. He went to Gandhi hospital for treatment and came to PS acting as a victim.
On further questioning, he confessed that the bag is in his house. Accordingly, the bag with Rs 14.50 lakh was recovered, and A2 was also apprehended, and Rs 2,50 lakh was recovered from his possession.
