Drug bust: Six techies caught with LSD, hash oil at Moinabad farmhouse party
Hyderabad: Six software professionals were arrested during a late-night raid at a farmhouse in Moinabad, where they were found consuming LSD blots, hash oil and alcohol.
Acting on a tip-off, the Telangana Excise Task Force conducted the operation on Saturday night and seized banned substances and luxury vehicles from the premises.
Party busted at private farmhouse
The raid took place at a secluded farmhouse in Moinabad, under the limits of the Cyberabad Commissionerate, where the group had gathered to celebrate a friendās birthday.
According to officials, the party had escalated into a drug-fueled gathering by midnight. Upon entering the premises, the Excise team found multiple attendees in an inebriated state. Narcotic substances, including LSD blots and hash oil, were recovered along with alcohol bottles.
Narcotics sourced from Himachal Pradesh
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested individuals confessed that the drugs had been brought from Himachal Pradesh. Authorities believe the substances were sourced specifically for the party and transported through informal networks.
The accused reportedly split costs and procured the contraband in advance, raising concerns over a wider pattern of drug abuse among working professionals.
Three luxury cars seized
In addition to the drugs, the Task Force also seized three high-end vehicles found at the scene. The vehicles are being examined to determine ownership and possible connections to the drug procurement route.
Officials suspect that such events are being hosted discreetly at remote locations to avoid detection, often under the guise of private parties.
Two key organisers absconding
Two other individuals, believed to have coordinated the event and arranged the narcotics, managed to flee before the raid. Authorities have identified them and launched a search operation.
Their statements are expected to be key in uncovering the supply chain and possibly tracking down those operating behind the scenes.
A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The Excise Department is expanding its investigation to track the drug supply route and identify whether similar parties are being hosted elsewhere.
Officials said they are monitoring certain groups and social circles suspected to be part of an emerging recreational drug culture in the cityās tech corridors.
Growing drug abuse among young professionals
The incident has once again drawn attention to the increasing prevalence of narcotic use among young IT employees and tech professionals in Hyderabad. Authorities have issued a strong warning and assured strict action against all those found in possession or consumption of banned substances.
The Excise Task Force reiterated that such crackdowns will continue across weekend gatherings, especially at private farmhouses and resorts on the city outskirts.
