Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, EAGLE Force Telangana, in coordination with local police, arrested two drug peddlers and a woman supplier in separate operations at Hayathnagar and Begumpet, seizing methamphetamine and ganja worth over Rs 8 lakh.
Twin operations yield major seizures
Acting on credible intelligence, the Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) carried out two targeted operations, resulting in the seizure of 2.6 grams of methamphetamine and 16 kilograms of ganja in two distinct cases.
The contraband seized in both cases was handed over to the respective police stations for further legal action.
1. Meth seized in Hayathnagar
Consumers turned peddlers
The first case pertains to Hayathnagar, where EAGLE, along with the Hayathnagar police, apprehended Bhansilal alias Bhansilal Paware alias Rahul Saini (22) and Yogesh Rankavath (25) at Bhagyalatha Colony.
Bhansilal, a native of Nagaur district in Rajasthan, had been living in Hyderabad for over a decade and was running a chaat stall named Balaji Chat Bandar. Yogesh, also from Nagaur, had been working as a helper at the stall for the past month.
Both were reportedly consuming methamphetamine.
Investigations revealed that an absconding associate, A Pavan Ode, had brought five grams of meth to Hyderabad, out of which 2.4 grams were consumed by the trio before he returned to his native place.
Arrest and seizure
Based on specific inputs, EAGLE searched Bhansilal’s residence and recovered 2.6 grams of methamphetamine, valued at Rs 13,000.
The two accused were arrested and handed over to Hayathnagar Police Station. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the absconding interstate peddler, A Pavan Ode.
2. Woman ganja courier held at Begumpet
Modus Operandi
In the second case, EAGLE’s Railway Narcotics Control Cell (RNCC) apprehended Mamata Digal (37) at Begumpet Railway Station while she was travelling on the Konark Express.
A native of Phulbani district in Odisha and working as a housemaid in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, Mamata was allegedly lured by a Mumbai-based peddler, Ashok, who promised quick money. She had earlier transported ganja twice from Bhubaneswar on his instructions.
Seizure during train travel
During checks on the Konark Express, EAGLE officials found 16 kilograms of ganja concealed in two briefcases in her possession.
The contraband, valued at Rs 8 lakh, was seized, and the accused was handed over to the Nampally Railway Police Station. Police are making efforts to apprehend Ashok, the absconding interstate supplier.
Appeal to the public
Reiterating its commitment to making Telangana drug-free, EAGLE Force appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and report any information related to drug peddling, trafficking or consumption.
Officials stressed that public cooperation is vital to protect youth and curb the drug menace across the state.
