Drugs sold to truck drivers: EAGLE Force seizes 29 kg narcotics at Chityal Dhaba
Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the EAGLE Force team unearthed a drug racket operating from a roadside dhaba at Chityal and seized a large quantity of contraband.
The operation led to the arrest of the dhaba operator, Gurmit Singh, who was allegedly selling drugs to truck drivers during night hours.
Night-time sales to truck drivers
According to officials, Gurmit Singh was targeting long-haul lorry drivers who halted at the dhaba late at night. Drivers were allegedly purchasing drugs and continuing their journeys under the influence, posing serious risks to road safety.
Huge haul of narcotics
During the raid, the EAGLE Force recovered as many as 29 kilograms of narcotics, including opium and poppy straw, from the dhaba premises. The seized drugs are believed to have been sourced from Rajasthan.
Suspicious activity triggers raid
Officials said the operation was launched after EAGLE Force noticed an unusually large number of trucks stopping at the dhaba in recent times, raising suspicions of illegal activity. A discreet surveillance operation confirmed drug sales, leading to the raid.
Business expansion through drug trade
Investigators revealed that Gurmit Singh had resorted to drug trafficking to expand his business and increase profits. Preliminary inquiries suggest the racket had been running for some time.
Investigation continues
EAGLE Force officials are now probing possible links to a wider drug supply network and checking whether more individuals are involved in the operation. Further investigation is underway, the officials added.
