Hyderabad: In a distressing incident, an inebriated man sexually assaulted two women. It was reported that he forcefully stripped a woman in public and inappropriately touched both. Although he managed to escape from the place, he was later arrested.

This series of shocking attacks unfolded in Balaji Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Jawahar Nagar Police Station in Hyderabad.

According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday night around 8:30 pm when the accused, identified as Peddamariya (30), a resident of Jawahar Nagar, was walking near the Balaji Nagar bus stand with his mother. When he came across a woman exiting from a shop he immediately confronted her and started harassing her. Witnesses reported that Peddamariya was under the influence of alcohol and his actions towards the woman escalated rapidly, as he began to touch her inappropriately.

Taken aback and angered, the young woman pushed Peddamariya away. He then turned violent and physically assaulted her, even tearing her clothes in the process. Shockingly, Peddamariyaā€™s mother did not intervene to halt his aggressive behaviour.

As the assault unfolded, another woman passing by on a bike confronted him, questioning his actions. This only seemed to further incite him, and he assaulted the second woman. For roughly 15 minutes, the initial victim was left exposed and vulnerable on the road, calling out for help. Disturbingly, despite the presence of bystanders, none stepped up to offer immediate assistance or intervention.

Only after the assailant departed did individuals come forward to shield the victim and alert the Jawahar Nagar police. Assistant Commissioner of Police Venkat Reddy from Kushaiguda expressed profound concern over the incident. ACP Reddy later confirmed that Peddamariya was arrested and charged under various sections.
