Hyderabad: A person has been arrested for their alleged involvement in an elderly woman’s murder in Dundigal, Medchal-Malkajgiri District.
The accused has been identified as P Kavitha (36), a resident of the same area. The deceased was identified as Chinnabattini Susheelamma (85).
What is the case about?
Kavitha had earlier worked at the deceased’s house for about 15 days and gained her trust by supplying toddy.
On February 2, at about 2:30 PM, when the deceased was alone, the accused attacked her on the head with a stone, causing her death. She later stole gold earrings and a finger ring and sold them at a local jewellery shop.
The case details came to light through CCTV footage at the crime scene and the jewellery shop. It was solved within 24 hours by Dundigal Police with the assistance of CCS and SOT teams. The CCTV cameras installed by a resident, Srikar Reddy of Church Gagillapur, Dundigal, played a crucial role in solving the case. He will be honoured at the press meet on this occasion, the police said.
The police seized the pair of earrings and the ring from the accused.
