Ex-Bodhan MLA Shakeels son accident case: Suspended Panjagutta CI Durga Rao held in Guntakal

Hyderabad: Railway police have arrested suspended Panjagutta police station CI Durga Rao at Guntakal in Andhra Pradesh.

He has been arrested for allegedly assisting Rahil, also known as Sahil, the son of former Bodan MLA Shakeel, in the road accident case.

Guntakal railway police of Anantapur district took him into custody on Monday morning. Railway CI Nagesh Babu said on a tip-off that Durga Rao was traveling on a train from Chennai to Mumbai, they conducted checks and apprehended him.

Panjagutta police were informed, and upon their arrival, they arrested him and took him into custody.

Currently, DCP Vijaykumar is interrogating the accused in the West Zone DCP office. He will be produced before the court after the investigation.

On December 23, former Bodhan MLA’s son Mohammed Raheel Aamir, alias Baba was driving the BMW car in a drunken condition. At 3.42 hours, he called his driver and informed him that he crashed the car into a traffic barricade. The intensity of the crash was so high that the barricades were blown into the air.

The ex-MLA's son asked the driver to take another car and reach the spot. The accused was whisked away from the spot as if he wasn’t present at the time of the accident. They told the driver not to disclose that former MLA’s son was driving the car at the time of the accident.

The driver even convinced the police that he was the one driving the car that crashed into the traffic barricade.

In this case, Nizamabad Inspector Premkumar and Shakeel's follower, Abdulwahe, were arrested last week. Subsequently, they were interrogated by DCP Vijay Kumar. Later they were produced before the 14th ACMM Court in Nampally, where they were granted bail.

Out of the 11 accused in this case, 9 have been arrested so far. As the main accused Sahil and his father Shakeel are in Dubai, lookout notices have been issued.
