Hyderabad: The special operation team of Rachakonda commissionerate on Monday arrested four former members of banned People's War Groups (PWG) and Janashakhti groups and seized three illegal firearms -- a country made tapancha, an air pistol, and an air revolver along with live rounds and other material used for making of firearms and ammunition from their possession.

The accused, Pittala Srinivas alias Srinanna (45) from Janagoan district; Vallala Nagamallaiah (58) from Yadadri Bhongir district; Edavalli Srinivas Reddy (49) from Suryapet district and Gangapuram Swamy alias Mallesh (55) from Nalgonda district. Another accused Ashok (32), who has allegedly printed pamphlets for them is absconding.

Pittala Srinivas, Vallala Nagamallaiah, Edavalli Srinivas Reddy, and Gangapuram Swamy are the ex-naxalites who previously worked in different organizations of CPI (ML) Maoist and CPI (ML) Janashakthi groups. They got acquainted with each other while they were working in these organizations. After departing from the extremist groups, they worked as labourers in different areas in Hyderabad city, but they could not succeed financially.


According to police with their experience during their tenure in the extremism, they hatched a plan to extort money from the realtors in the surrounding area of Yadagirigutta and Hyderabad City under the guise of Naxalites belongs to CPI (ML) Maoist group.

As per their plan, Pittala Srinivas prepared letterheads on the name of 'Bharatha Communist Maoist Party Zonal Committee, Telangana Rashtram' and got the same printed by Ashok at a computer center. Recently, Pittala Srinivas prepared three weapons-a country-made tapancha, a converted air pistol, and an air revolver and handed over the same along with other material meant for the making of firearms and ammunition to Valla Naga Mallaiah.

Further, Gangapuram Swamy also brought a live round of a country-made weapon and handed over the same to Mallaiah who in turn kept the same in his house at Pathagutta road, Yadagirigutta.
