Hyderabad: The south zone team of the commissionerā€™s task force, along with the Chaderghat police, busted a fake education certificate racket and arrested seven persons. They were allegedly providing fake certificates to aspiring students who wanted to study abroad, collecting large sums of money in the process.

The police seized fake certificates of various universities and boards, 11 cell phones, four laptops, and Rs. 20,000 cash.

During a press conference on Tuesday, deputy commissioner of police G. Chakravarthy, from the south zone task force, revealed details about the racket.

The prime accused, Mohd. Habeeb, is a resident of Bazarghat in Nampally. After completing his B.Tech from Royal College of Engineering, Chevella, he joined Reliance Academy Consultancy as an administrator where he met Sunil Kapoor from Delhi who was in Hyderabad for educational marketing. The two hatched a plan to provide fake education certificates to those who wanted to study abroad illegally and earn easy money. In 2015, Habeeb started Fly Abroad Consultancy in Malakpet to provide fake certificates to aspirants.

Despite being arrested by the Bahadurpura and Saroornagar police in the same cases, Habeeb continued to provide fake certificates with the help of Abdul Rawoof, Md. Irfan, and Shanawaz Khan. Zubair, Salman Khan, and Md. Abdul Sattar were his counsellors and office workers. The accused allegedly secured customers by offering foreign study opportunities in the USA and the UK, providing fake certificates, and collecting huge amounts of money before sharing the profits.

All of the accused involved in the racket, except Sunil Kapoor from Delhi, have been arrested.

The police have advised citizens not to trust fake education consultancies, mediators, or agents of other state universities who make false promises of providing education certificates through the back door and backdated from universities or colleges without exams. Illegal activities may lead to legal consequences.
