Fake Maybelline cosmetics seized from Begum Bazar; one held
The raid also led to the arrest of Tabir Ahmed Lasker, the owner of the establishment, for his involvement in selling fake cosmetics
By Anoushka Caroline Williams Published on 14 March 2024 1:36 PM GMTHyderabad: The Commissionerās Task Force, East Zone Team, and Shahinayathgunj police, seized a batch of duplicate cosmetics from ā07 stars Cosmeticsā in RK Plaza, Begum Bazar.
The raid also led to the arrest of Tabir Ahmed Lasker, the owner of the establishment, for his involvement in selling fake cosmetics under the guise of the original Maybelline brand.
The property seized from Tabir Ahmed (37) ā a resident of Yakutpura in Charminar ā includes a significant quantity of duplicate Maybelline cosmetics, such as:
1. Maybelline baby lips balm - 1,650 pieces
2. Maybelline Kajal - 288 pieces
3. Maybelline Fit Me Powder - 97 pieces
4. Maybelline Fit Me Lipstick - 68 pieces
5. Maybelline Fit Me foundation - 9 pieces
The total value of the seized property amounts to Rs 4,17,097 (approx. Rs 4 lakhs).
āSelling duplicate cosmetics not only deceives consumers but also poses serious health risks. We are committed to cracking down on such illegal activities to ensure the safety and well-being of the public,ā said Ande Srinivasa Rao, additional DCP, Commissionerās Task Force.
Tabir Ahmed Lasker, along with the seized property, has been handed over to the SHO of Shahinayathgunj police for further legal action.
As investigations continue, authorities urge the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious activities related to counterfeit products.
