Hyderabad: Hyderabad Police arrested two persons for allegedly cheating people with promises of jobs in foreign countries. According to the police, the accused earned around Rs 83 lakhs by cheating people.
Based on credible information, on Saturday, the Commissionerās Task Force, North Zone Team, along with Narayanguda police apprehended Yeruva Abhishek Reddy and Thumma Chinnamma who issued fake job visas to gullible persons who desired to work outside the country.
The police seized laptops, including a Mac Book, cell phones, important documents such as agreement papers and visa papers, rubber stamps and other material from the accused. A four wheeler was also seized. The total worth of the seized items is Rs 25 lakhs.
Case details
Abhishek Reddy has been running JMJ Reddy Consultancy at Flat no 502, at Kumbera Towers, in Himayat Nagar along with Thumma Chinnamma since 2020. Abhishek had previously gone to Singapore on a job visa. Showing their contacts in Singapore, they offered attractive job offers to candidates with high salaries and benefits.
They would promise quick visas, guaranteed placements, or no prior qualifications/experience needed, making the offer seem too good to be true. They promised to complete the whole process in three months. They made false promises of overseas employment, including visas, accommodation, and travel arrangements. They issued fake or invalid visa documents to approximately 25 persons, to make the scam seem legitimate.
As per the police, the accused collected Rs 83 lakhs from victims in total so far. After collecting the amount from candidates, the accused would avoid making contact and also would not arrange jobs as promised. A cheating case was registered against them at Narayanaguda Police Station and Abhishek Reddy had absconded to avoid getting caught. They also have a case against them in Alwal.
The enquiry showed that the accused used all the money he earned from cheating on lavish expenses such as buying a four-wheeler. A case has been registered under sections 318 (3)(4), and 316(2) of BNS of Narayanguda PS.
