The car driver was allegedly driving at high speed and the negligence of the tractor driver was believed to be the cause of the accident.

Prakasam: In a fatal road accident, a 55-year-old man and his son were killed after a tractor hit their car on Thursday morning on National Highway-16 at Jagarlamudivaripalem village in Andhra Pradesh. The family was returning home after dropping off younger son, who is flying to the US for his higher studies.

The victims have been identified as Venkata Rao (55) and the eldest son Prasanna Kumar (22). His wife Kalavathi and the driver Vijay survived with minor injuries.

According to the police, Venkata Rao and his wife, residents of Sambashivaravanagar in Guntur's Chilakaluripeta, own a grocery shop. The couple has two sons – Prasannakumar, a software employee, and Bhaskara Rao who has completed B.Tech and is studying in the US.

On Wednesday, the family left for Chennai to see off Bhaskara. While returning to their hometown on Thursday, their car was hit by a tractor near Jagarlamoodivaripalem flyover. According to the police, the driver of the car was allegedly driving at high speed and the negligence of the tractor driver was believed to be the cause of the accident.

The police shifted the bodies of the victims to Addanki Government Hospital for post-mortem. The tractor driver is absconding and a case has been registered.
