Hyderabad: The city police have filed an FIR against newly-elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator from Jambagh Rakesh Jaiswal for allegedly submitting a false affidavit about his children in the GHMC elections.

The FIR was filed in Abids police station based on the complaint from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen leader and former Corporator from Jambagh J Ravindra. Ravindra lost to BJP leader by 182 votes.

In the FIR, the complainant alleged that Jambagh's newly elected corporator has submitted a "false affidavit" suppressing vital facts about the number of kids.

"Rakesh Jaiswal has shown that he has two children. But in reality, he has got 3 children," said J Ravindra.

Earlier the complainant had moved to the election tribunal challenging the election of Rakesh Jaiswal. He alleged that he has violated the two-child norm. He said it is a violation of Section 21 B of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Act.
