Hyderabad: A major fire broke out once again in the Pashamylaram industrial area on Sunday, sparking panic among residents and workers who are still reeling from the recent Sigachi Pharma blast that claimed multiple lives, which occurred in the same industrial area on June 30 and claimed 42 lives.

Environmental waste management unit catches fire

The latest incident occurred at the Enviro Waste Management facility, which specialises in recycling plastic waste from hospitals. Thick black smoke billowed from the site, causing distress and fear among locals who witnessed the flames from a distance.

Lorry and JCB gutted; no casualties

Upon receiving information, fire tenders and police rushed to the spot and initiated firefighting operations. Despite their prompt efforts, a lorry and a JCB parked within the premises were completely gutted in the blaze.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or loss of life reported in Sunday’s fire, offering some relief to authorities and workers present at the site.

Recent Sigachi Pharma blast is fresh in the public memory

This fresh fire comes close on the heels of the recent Sigachi Pharma blast in the same industrial cluster, which left several dead and others injured. The back-to-back incidents have created a sense of insecurity among the local population, raising questions about the overall safety standards in the industrial zone.

Concerns over safety protocols

Officials said the exact cause of Sunday’s fire is yet to be ascertained, and further details will emerge after a detailed probe.

With frequent fire-related accidents, including the deadly Sigachi Pharma explosion, residents and workers are urging authorities to conduct stringent inspections and ensure robust safety measures to prevent such mishaps in future.
