Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, five youth drowned in Konda Pochamma Sagar reservoir in Siddipet district of Telangana on Saturday, police said.

Seven people from Hyderabad reached the reservoir today to spend some time, they said.

The deceased were identified as Dhanush (20), Lohith (17), Ch Dineswar (17), Jatin (17) and Sahil (17).

The two youths who survived are Komari Mrigank (17) and MD Ibrahim (17). All of them were residents of Musheerabad, Hyderabad.

Five of them ventured into the reservoir and drowned. Two others were clicking photographs.

The youngsters, who visited the Konda Pochamma temple in the district, reached the reservoir by taking a different route. Outsiders are not allowed entry into the reservoir, they said.

Efforts are on to recover the bodies of the deceased.

CM Revanth ask officials to deploy expert divers

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed grief over the incident and directed district officials to carry out relief works.

The chief minister asked the officials concerned to deploy expert divers for search operations to locate the missing individuals. He instructed the district officials to stay on-site, monitor the situation closely, and take appropriate rescue measures.

Harish Rao demand Rs 15 lakh ex-gratia

BRS MLA from Siddipet T Harish Rao condoled the deaths and urged the government to take measures to prevent recurrence of such tragedies. He demanded ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh each to the kin of the dead.
