Former AP Ranji cricketer Budumuru Nagaraju arrested for impersonating KTRs PA, extracting money


Hyderabad: North Zone Police Task Force arrested a former Ranji Cricketer of Andhra Pradesh for impersonating as Tiru Pathi Reddy, Personal Assistant to KT Rama Rao, Minister of IT E&C, MA&UD, and extracting money from a pharmaceutical company.

Identified as 25-year-old Budumuru Nagaraju, he is native of Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh. Earlier also he was booked in seven cases in both Telugu speaking states.

According to police, on November 7 the accused made a phone call to the management of Drugs & Pharmaceutical Company, Hyderabad, by impersonating Tirupathi Reddy. The accused told the company that the Pollution Control board is going to issue closure notice to their factory and demanded Rs. 15 lakh to `solve' the matter.

On November 15, police Task Force, North Zone team along with Police Jubilee Hills PS laid a trap and apprehended him.

Previously he has extracted huge amounts from few companies impersonating as PAs to different ministers. The companies were based in Hyderabad-1, Cyberabad-2, Machavaram- 1, Vijayawada-1, Guntur-1, Nellore -1 and Vishakapatnam-1.
