Visakhapatnam: Duvvada police arrested four persons for abducting and extorting money from a realtor at Visakhapatnam on Friday.

Police recovered Rs 60,000, a toy pistol, and a sharp knife from them. All were produced in the court and sent to judicial remand for 15 days.

Circle inspector of Duvvada K Lakshmi said PSN Raju, working in a steel plant, was also doing real estate business on his wife's name.

Local goons, P Santosh and M Lovaraju, have been threatening and extorting money from him. "They had extorted Rs 9.5 lakh in installments and still wanted more. Two days ago, they held him captive in a four-storied building and demanded more money. Raju, however, managed to escape and lodged a complaint with the police," police said.

Police teams later arrested four people. They have been identified as P Santosh and M Lovaraju, their two assistants Nagesh and Gandhi.

Circle inspector said Santosh is an anti-social element in Gajuwaka and Duvvada is facing nine cases including an attempt to murder. Lovaraju has four cases pending against him.

``Both have been extorting money from people in Gajuwaka and Duvvada for some time,'' he said.
