Four get 10 years jail in Sangareddy for illegally transporting 102 kg of ganja in 2021
All four were awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh each

Sangareddy: The First Additional Sessions Court in Sangareddy on Friday sentenced four persons to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment each and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on each in a case involving the illegal transportation of 102 kilograms of ganja.
In a separate case heard on the same day, the court awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25,000 to another accused for smuggling ganja from Odisha.
Massive ganja seizure in 2021
Medak Excise Deputy Commissioner J Hari Kishan said the case pertains to February 2021, when officials of the Zaheerabad Excise Station intercepted a vehicle carrying 102 kg of ganja illegally.
The accused were caught by Enforcement SI HA Mohan Kumar along with Ramesh Reddy. The case was later registered by SI MT Kumar at the Zaheerabad Excise Station, who also conducted the investigation.
After completion of the trial, First Additional Sessions Judge Jayanti convicted the four accused: Rathod Mohan, Rathod Venkat, Kethavath Pandu Naik and Rathod Mothiram. All four were awarded 10 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh each.
Odisha-to-Sangareddy drug smuggling in 2019
In another case dating back to 2019, the court convicted Sarajit Biswas (36), a resident of Malkangiri district in Odisha, for illegally transporting five kilograms of ganja to Sangareddy for sale.
The accused was arrested by Enforcement SI HA Mohan Kumar, while the investigation was carried out by then Sangareddy CI Madhubabu. The court awarded him five years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000.
