Srikakulam: The Srikakulam police arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a mandal-level YSRCP leader.

It may be recalled that 52-year-old Baratam Ramaseshu was found in a pool of blood on the road at Srikurmam under Gara mandal in Srikakulam district on the morning of 6 December.

Ramaseshu was a mandal-level leader of the YSRCP and was the vice-president of Mandal Praja Parishad (MPP) of Gara and former sarpanch of Srikakulam village. He was involved in various trades such as real estate.

The Srikakulam superintendent of police Srikakulam, G.R Radhika, said the arrested have been identified as T. Sudhakar Reddy and his son T. Ravinder Reddy of Srikurmam, and M. Venkata Subba Reddy and Savada Srinu.

"Our investigation has revealed that Sudhakar Reddy and his son Ravinder Reddy had a grudge against Ramaseshu as he was obstructing their growth. There was also old enmity between them. The father-son duo decided to kill Ramaseshu and hired two more persons to murder Ramaseshu," the SI said.

Ravinder Reddy, Subba Reddy, and Srinu observed Ramaseshu and waited for the perfect time. On 6 December, the trio followed Ramaseshu on a bike and attacked him with when he was going to his LPG cylinder godown. Ramaseshu was found dead on the road with multiple injuries.

"We came to know that the father-son duo left the village after committing the crime. Based on the clues, we nabbed the duo who confessed to the crime. We have arrested the four accused and recovered the weapons and mobile phones from them," SI Radhika added.
