Hyderabad: Two separate interstate drug operations were dismantled on December 25 by Telangana EAGLE Force.

The coordinated raids between Bhadradri Kothagudem and Rachakonda Commissionerate, conducted in partnership with local police, led to the arrest of five suspects and the seizure of 304 kilograms of ganja and 19 grams of MDMA, with the total contraband valued at approximately Rs 1.52 crore.

Interstate ganja seizure at border checkpost

The first major bust occurred at the Achyutapuram Adda Road on the Ashwaraopet-Dammapet border. Acting on intelligence reports, EAGLE Force sleuths from the RNCC Khammam unit joined forces with the Dammapet Police to conduct rigorous vehicle checks.

The teams intercepted a mini lorry being escorted by a car, both of which were found to be using fake registration plates to evade detection.

A thorough inspection of the mini lorry revealed a specially designed, concealed container holding 152 packets of ganja, each weighing two kilograms.

Case details

The seized ganja was procured from Chitrakonda in the Malkangiri district of Odisha. It was being transported through Rajahmundry and was being smuggled toward Vikram in Tamil Nadu via the Ashwaraopet-Sathupalli route.

A total of 304 kg of ganja, valued at Rs 1.52 crore, was recovered along with the two vehicles.

Tech-savvy MDMA network uncovered in Neredmet

The second operation focused on the distribution of high-end synthetic drugs in the Neredmet area. EAGLE Force teams, in coordination with Neredmet Police, apprehended a suspect identified as Vamshi.

Investigators revealed that Vamshi had been sourcing MDMA from Bengaluru and used sophisticated methods to avoid police surveillance. He reportedly utilised the ‘dead drop’ method, where drugs are left at remote, prearranged locations for pickup, and relied on encrypted messaging apps with disappearing messages to communicate with customers.

Key findings in the MDMA case

Arrest and Seizure: Vamshi was intercepted while loitering in Neredmet; 19 grams of MDMA were found concealed in his backpack.

Operational Methods: To avoid online transaction trails, the suspect insisted on cash payments and only sold to a trusted, exclusive circle of customers.

The Bengaluru connection

The suspect reportedly travelled to Bengaluru to meet a contact named Sanju to coordinate the procurement and dead-drop delivery of the MDMA parcels.

A firm commitment to ‘Nasha Mukt Telangana’

These operations are part of an intensified state-wide crackdown by the EAGLE Force, launched to ensure drug-free New Year celebrations under the government's “Nasha Mukt Telangana” (Drug-Free Telangana) policy.

The EAGLE Force has urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any information regarding drug trafficking through their toll-free number (1908) or WhatsApp (87126 71111), promising strict confidentiality and rewards for credible informants.
