Gang involved in Rs. 37L tyre theft busted, 152 tyres worth Rs. 29.64L recovered

Hyderabad: The Rachkonda police busted an interstate gang stealing lorry tyres and recovered 152 MRF tyres worth Rs. 29.64 lakh. They arrested three gang members.

The main accused, Jamsheed Khan (27) from Haryana's Mewat district, was arrested at the Delhi airport on 19 February while he was trying to escape. The other two who were arrested are Afroz Ali Khan (38) and Syed Basith Hussain (42). Both are from Hyderabad. Two others – Rahil Khan and Azad from Haryana – are absconding.

On the night of 15 February, a container loaded with 192 MRF tyres left MRF Limited in Trichy (Radial) Plant Narangal, Perambadur, Tamil Nadu. The tyres were being transported to Haryana. At Tiruchi, Jamsheed and Rahil asked the driver for a lift to Haryana. On 17 February, when they reached near Tipparthi in Nalgonda district, the two gang members threatened the driver and his helper and asked them to stop the container by the roadside. They tied the two up and blindfolded them. They also beat them up.

Jamsheed and Rahil then stole 192 MRF tyres worth Rs. 37.45 lakh and fled.

Three gang members were arrested by the Rachakonda police and items worth Rs. 42.84 lakh, including 152 MRF tyres worth Rs. 29,64,760, cash Rs. 20,000, cars and mobile phones, were seized from them. One 8 MM live round was also recovered.

The gang had twice robbed vehicles transporting tyres and stolen 220 tyres on 18 January and 192 tyres on 18 February.
