Hyderabad: A man was arrested by the Malkajgiri police on Monday for stealing a portable public toilet.

Three men had stolen a portable toilet from the Sulabh complex (public toilet) in Safilguda and tried to sell it under the Malkajgiri police station limits.

G. Raju, the GHMC deputy commissioner of Malkajgiri circle, filed a complaint at the Malkajgiri police station on Thursday. He said that on 16 March, the Malkajgiri circle cleaning department noticed that the PFT toilet was missing from Safilguda. Balaji Jain Constructions was suspected of stealing it.

The police filed an FIR under section 379 (theft) of the IPC. On Monday, the Malkajgiri police arrested Jogaiah (36), an auto-trolley driver from Domalguda, for stealing and selling a portable toilet at Musheerabad for Rs. 45,000 to a scrap vendor. With the help of surveillance cameras, Jogaiah was identified and arrested.

"Two others – Arun Kumar, a GHMC worker at Buddha Bhavan, and Bikshapathi of Jain Constructions in Anandbagh in Malkajgiri – were also part of the plan and are absconding," said the police.

Cash was recovered from the accused and his auto trolley was also seized. Based on Jogaiah's confession, Arun Kumar and Bikshapathi were also booked. The police are looking for them.
