The police said that they were using the DTDC courier service to transport marijuana. They seized 90 kg of dry ganja worth Rs 30 lakhs from the gang.
On August 25, acting on specific information, the sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT), Balanagar Zone along with the Chandanagar PS team apprehended two dry ganja peddlers who were transporting dry ganja from Odisha to Hyderabad by using DTDC courier services.
The accused were identified as Nadari Lingam (25) and Sunnapu Raju (29), both drivers from Sangareddy. Another three accused; Sunil from Maharashtra, Chandrashekar from Odisha and a DTDC employee are absconding.
According to the police, Nadari Lingam and Sunnapu Raju confessed to receiving six boxes of ganja from a DTDC branch in Chandanagar, which was sent by Chandrashekar from Odisha with the help of a DTDC employee.
Modus Operandi
Nadari and Raju have been previously booked in several Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) cases and have been jailed too. However, they continued dealing drugs after they were released from jail. They began procuring dry ganja from the Chandrashekar and used to transport it with the help of Sunil.
āThey developed a new deceptive strategy using the DTDC courier service for transporting ganja to escape police checks. Chandrashekar, Lingam, and Raju, with a DTDC employee of Odisha, transported dry ganja packets in DTDC parcels to Lingam and Raju. The duo would sell the same to needy persons in Telangana and Maharashtra,ā said the police.
The two accused were nabbed while travelling in a car with the DTDC courier pack containing 90 kg of ganja.
