3 ganja peddlers from Odisha held in Hyderabad, 120 kg ganja seized

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Ramachandrapuram police, along with the sleuths of the special operations team (SOT) of Madhapur zone, intercepted the transportation of banned ganja from Malkangiri in Odisha to Hyderabad.
Three interstate drug suppliers and peddlers of Odisha were held. They are Pritham Ray, Bidyut Ray, and Rajesh Gain. The police seized 120 kg of ganja, two four-wheelers, one motorcycle, and four mobile phonesāall worth about Rs. 50,90,000.
According to the police, the accused persons procured the ganja from local cultivators in the Malkangiri area of Odisha and supplied it to various ganja sellers in different states. Pritham Ray, the main accused, was an operator of a Kobuta harvester and used to transport ganja with the help of Deepakar, another accused who is currently absconding.
Rajesh Gain, the receiver, procured the ganja from Deepakar and Pritham and sold it to various customers on the outskirts of Kollur. Bidyut Ray, the driver, transported the ganja with the assistance of Deepakar and Pritham.
On 7 April, Pritham and his cousin Deepankar procured 60 packets of ganja containing 2 kg each, weighing about 120 kg, at Malkangiri in Odisha. They loaded 30 packets of ganja in two vehicles. They engaged Bidyut as the driver for one vehicle and started their journey from Malkangiri to Hyderabad along with the ganja. Deepakar drove the other vehicle, and Pritham escorted them on a motorbike.
On 8 April, they reached Hyderabadās Kolluru outskirts under the limit of RC Puram PS to deliver the ganja to Rajesh Gain. However, on credible information, the RC Puram police and SOT Madhapur zone apprehended the three men near the workerās area at Kollur village and seized the two four-wheelers and a motorcycle along with 120 kg of ganja. Deepakar, the leading supplier, absconded from the scene. As per the version of the accused persons, they purchased the ganja at Rs. 4,000 per kg and sold it at Rs. 30,000 per kg.
The police have registered a case under various sections of the NDPS Act 1985.
