GHMC elections: Hyderabad police seize Rs 1 Cr hawala money in three days

Hyderabad: The Police Task Force have recovered Rs one crore hawala money within three days of the announcement of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) polls.

On November 20, the West Zone Task Force seized Rs 20 lakh from a penthouse at Bedarwadi in Begum Bazar under Shahinayathgunj police station limits.

Police also arrested two people who have been identified as Nilesh Patel and Yogesh Ashok. Police handed over the seized money and accused to Shahitnayathgunj police station for further investigation.

On November 20, West Zone Task Force seized Rs 18 lakh from three people at Mallepally under Habeebnagar police station.

According to Hyderabad police, from November 18 to November 20, cops have seized Rs 62,21,800 lakh and registered 11 FIRs.




To maintain the law and order situation in the city during elections, police have impounded and canceled 1,899 licenced weapons in the Hyderabad city area.

Police have also executed 148 non-bailable warrants since November 18. Police said 1823 non-bailable warrants are pending with the higher authorities.

To enforce the Model Code of Conduct in the city, police have removed around 11,758 political banners, posters, boards, flexes, and flags since November 17.

On November 17, police removed a total of 2,798 banners and posters. On November 18, police removed 4,120 banners and posters. On November 19, 3.859 banners and posters were removed. On Friday, police removed around 981 banners and posters.

Police said that they are keeping a tight vigil to maintain the law and order, and enforce the Model Code of Conduct in Hyderabad city.
