Hyderabad: A senior assistant working in the Property Tax Wing of Moosapet Circle-23 under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was arrested by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
According to ACB officials, the accused officer, M Sunitha, demanded a bribe from a complainant to initiate and process the property mutation file and to fix the property tax for the complainantās house, which is presently registered in the name of her mother.
The City Range-2 unit of Telangana ACB laid a trap following the complaint and caught Sunitha red-handed while accepting the bribe. The officials recovered the entire amount from her at her instance. A chemical test conducted on her right-hand fingers yielded a positive result, confirming that she had handled the tainted money.
The officer was arrested and is being sent to judicial remand. The ACB has registered a case and further investigation is underway, according to a press release issued by the ACB officials.
