Six years back, Syed had got divorced and since then wanted to remarry. Mediators contacted Ashira Begum, the mother of the girl, and Chand Sulthana, the grandmother of the girl, and convinced them to sell their daughter. After deciding to sell the girl for Rs 5 lakh, the mediators contacted Syed.
