Girl sold to 61YO divorcee in Balapur; 9 held

Police have arrested nine people for trying to sell a girl to a man from Mumbai for Rs five lakh.
The accused have been identified as Syed Althaf Ali (61) the groom from Mumbai, Akhil Ahmed (37) of Balapur in Rangareddy, Zareena Begum (25) from Balapur, Shabana Begum (38) from Bandlaguda in Hyderabad, Shameem Sulthan (45) from Bandlaguda, Zahida Bee alias Shahzadi Sulthana (72) from Balapur, Ashira Begum (37) from Bandlaguda, and Chand Sulthana (65), from Bandlaguda.
On January 23, B Saikanth, Sub Inspector at Balapur Police Station received information about human trafficking near house no 17-182, Bilal Colony in Balapur. He along with a SHE team raided the place and apprehended nine persons.
Investigation revealed that all the accused except Syed Althaf Ali are residents of Balapur and were negotiating the sale of the girl.
Six years back, Syed had got divorced and since then wanted to remarry. Mediators contacted Ashira Begum, the mother of the girl, and Chand Sulthana, the grandmother of the girl, and convinced them to sell their daughter. After deciding to sell the girl for Rs 5 lakh, the mediators contacted Syed.
About three months back, Syed came to the girl's house to finalize the deal, but it failed. Syed later returned to Mumbai.
After a few weeks, Ashira Begum's brother met with an accident. The family was in need of huge money and due to the financial problems, Ashira decided to sell her daughter to Syed. Later, the mediators contacted Syed again.
On January 23, and when Syed was negotiating a deal, police raided the venue and caught the culprits red-handed.
Police also seized a LYF Small Keypad phone, a Samsung Galaxy A10 mobile phone, a Samsung Galaxy A51 phone, and a Samsung Black color phone. All the nine arrested were sent to judicial custody.
