Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Customs seized gold worth Rs. 59.23 lakhs from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on 27 December. The man had hidden the gold paste, weighing 1.19 kg, inside the rectum.
Earlier, on 13 December, the Customs officials had seized 316.40 gm of gold worth Rs. 15.71 lakh at RGIA. The gold was concealed inside a voltage converter, the Customs sources had said. The gold was retrieved from a flight that arrived from Dubai
On 7 December, Customs had seized 233.20 gm of gold worth Rs. 11.49 lakh at the Hyderabad airport.
Cases of gold smuggling and retrieval at RGIA have increased rapidly. The airport saw seven gold smuggling cases in the last month.
