Greed has no boundaries: T cops arrest ambulance crew for stealing gold from accident victim

Hyderabad: In an incident that reflects that 'greed has no boundaries', Telangana police arrested an ambulance crew who stole gold from an accident victim while shifting him to a hospital.

Kotha Srinivas, Kotha Rambabu and Gunda Santhosh belong to Narsaraopet in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh and are three jewellers by profession. The trio travelled to Telangana to supply gold ornaments weighing 5 kg and 60 tolas to various jewellery shops in various places.

However, misfortune struck when their car crashed near Ramagundam mandal of Telangana on the 23rd February morning. Out of the three Kotha Srinivas died on the spot while Kotha Rambabu and Santhosh received serious injuries. Ambulance was called by the eye witnesses and the duo were shifted to hospital in two separate vehicles.

While shifting injured Rambabu to a hospital in Godavarikhani, one of the ambulance crew Tajuddin found two packets of gold ornaments with the victim. He informed his partner in crime G Laxma Reddy, the driver. The two came to an understanding to share the gold equally even as Ramababu breathed his last. The two then handed over the body to hospital staff and left.

Another accused Chand who works as an emergency technician and Rajender, driver of the ambulance shifting Santhosh to a hospital. During this time, the crew found one kg gold on his person, however handed it over the gold to Ramagundam SI Shailaja.

Following a complaint filed by the family and based on the narration of Chand and Rajendra, Ramagundam Commissioner of police V Satyanarayana arrested Tajuddin and Laxma Reddy for stealing gold from an accident victim. Police recovered two kg and 30 tolas of gold ornaments from them.
