Guntur: Police have arrested a woman, her lover and an accomplice for allegedly murdering her husband in a premeditated crime that came to light in Chiluvuru village of Duggirala mandal, Guntur district.
Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal said the accused plotted the killing by drugging the victim and later assaulting him.
Wife, lover and accomplice arrested
Addressing the media, the SP said the police arrested Gopi, Lakshmi Madhuri (the victim’s wife) and Suresh, an RMP practitioner, in connection with the murder of Shiva Nagaraju. The trio allegedly conspired to kill Nagaraju due to his objections to the illicit relationship between Lakshmi Madhuri and Gopi.
Murder planned using sleeping pills
Elaborating further, Vakul Zindal said that Gopi procured sleeping pills from Suresh and handed them over to Lakshmi Madhuri. She allegedly mixed the pills into the biryani and served it to her husband.
After he fell unconscious, the accused are said to have attacked him on the chest with a wooden stick used for making papads, killing him on the spot.
Post-mortem reveals cause of death
The SP said a case was registered on January 18 after Nagaraju was found dead under suspicious circumstances. While there were no visible external injuries on the body, the post-mortem examination revealed fractured chest bones, confirming homicidal violence.
Background of the case
Shiva Nagaraju, an onion trader from Chiluvuru village, married Lakshmi Madhuri in 2007. The couple has two sons. Lakshmi Madhuri was working at a cinema theatre ticket counter in Vijayawada, where she met Gopi, a resident of Sattenapalli. Their acquaintance allegedly developed into an extramarital relationship.
Police said Lakshmi Madhuri reportedly looked down upon her husband’s business and compelled him to stop it. She later sent him to Hyderabad for work, where Gopi was running a car travel business. After some time, Nagaraju returned to Chiluvuru, leading to frequent marital disputes.
As Nagaraju began managing his business from home, the police said he became an obstacle to Lakshmi Madhuri’s relationship with Gopi. Investigators believe this prompted the accused to hatch a plan to kill him.
Investigation continues
The SP said further investigation is underway and the accused will be produced before the court. Police are also examining the role of each accused in procuring the drugs and executing the murder.
