Habitual sex offender detained at Cherlapalli jail through PD act

As part of the ongoing drive against habitual offenders who disturb law and order, the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, has invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Vedanthan Aditya Bharadwaj, 25 a sex offender and detained him in Central Prison, Cherlapalli, Medchal district.

Habitual sex offender detained at Cherlapalli jail through PD act

Hyderabad: As part of the ongoing drive against habitual offenders who disturb law and order, the Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad, has invoked the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against Vedanthan Aditya Bharadwaj, 25 a sex offender and detained him in Central Prison, Cherlapalli, Medchal district.

According to the police, the detainee is a resident of Medchal-Malkajgiri district. Cases against him include attempts to rape, stalking women, and recording and uploading obscene videos of them onto porn websites. His lecherous acts have created terror and panic among the public and posed a serious threat to the safety and security of women and children. Two criminal cases were registered against him in 2021, and he was arrested by the Cyber Crime Police on June 4, 2021. He was later released on bail.

To prevent him from committing further crimes, M. Stephen Raveendra, commissioner of police, Cyberabad, has invoked the PD Act against him and lodged him in the Cherlapalli Central Prison.
