Hayathnagar police seize 470kg ganja, arrest 10 drug peddlers
The gang procured ganja from the Agency areas of East Godavari and Donkarai village at cheap rates and sold them to prospective customers for a higher price

The arrested persons have been identified as Rahul (24), Cherukupalli Srikanth alias Kannaiah (21), Shaik Nawazuddin (35), Rathod Vinayak (32), Banavath Kishan (26), Gowlikar Sai Ajay (21), Sainath Chowhan (21), Jeripothula Ravali (20), Banavath Naga (27), and Domati Sangeetha (20). The kingpins of the racket ā Akash Kumar, Raju, and Sanyasi Rao ā are absconding.
A case has been registered under various sections of the NDPS Amendment Act 2001 at the Hayathnagar police station under the Rachakonda police commissionerate.
Raju and Sanyasi Rao from Majjipakal village of Odisha near Donkarai, East Godavari agency, used to procure ganja while Vinayak, a driver from Bidar in Karnataka, used to transport the ganja from Zaheerabad to Mumbai. Meanwhile, Akash Kumar, Nawazuddin Shaik, Vinayak, Kishan, and Naga had been involved in the ganja trade for the past few years. They had good contacts with ganja buyers from other states like AP, Odisha, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. The gang procured ganja from the Agency areas of East Godavari and Donkarai village at cheap rates and sold them to prospective customers for a higher price.
On 22 May, Srikanth, Sai Nath Chowhan, Sai Ajay, Ravali, and Sangeetha went to a village in the Donkarai Agency area of East Godavari district where they met Rahul. They procured 470 kg of ganja (235 packets of 2kg each) from Raju and Sanyasi Rao for Rs. 3,000 per kg. They planned to transport the ganja to Mumbai and sell it for Rs. 20,000 per kg.
The group left Donkarai for Mumbai. On the evening of 22 May, they reached the outskirts of Pasumamula village near ORR, Hyderabad, and moved the ganja packets into two cars. In the meantime, the Hayathnagar police, based on credible information, intercepted their vehicle and arrested 10 gang members. The police also seized 470 kg of ganja, four cars, 11 mobile phones, and cash of Rs. 2 lakh ā all worth Rs. 1.20 crores ā from their possession.
The police are investigating to find out the routes being used to transport ganja to various states.
