Hyderabad: Telangana police have created WhatsApp groups to monitor the health condition of COVID infected cops. Police have also decided to set up Health Monitoring Coordination Committees in all commissionerates and districts.
On Wednesday, DGP M Mahender Reddy held a video conference with heads of different wings, range IGs, DIGs, Commissioners and Superintendents of Police. He said the department is giving top priority to the welfare of the staff. WhatsApp groups have been created with COVID positive cops and doctors as its members.
It would act as an interface between doctors, cops, and experts. Doctors would monitor the health condition of the members and help them in recovery. DGP said experts should give tips to help people to overcome psychological trauma. He called upon senior officers and Station House Officers to join these groups.
He also requested the unit officers to organize Zoom conferences with the affected staff to improve their morale. "All affected staff should be supplied with immunity-boosting dry fruits, medical kits and their condition should be monitored from time to time. Even after taking all measures, if someone needs hospitalization, they should be admitted to the nearby Covid facility," he said.
DGP also asked for preparing the health profile of each member in the force. "To oversee all these activities, a dedicated WhatsApp group is being created at DGP office level. To ensure the good health of home guards, a special monitoring cell will be set up, he said.
