How Andhra ex-cricketer Nagaraju impersonated CM Revanth’s OSD to extract money from businessmen
Hyderabad: Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police have arrested a man from Andhra Pradesh for impersonating the OSD to Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy and soliciting money from businessmen and industrialists.
Identified as B. Nagaraju (32), the accused is a former state-level cricketer from Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh. He allegedly created a fake email ID in the name of the CM’s OSD and sent messages requesting financial help from prominent individuals in the business community.
Cybercrime officials revealed that Nagaraju is a repeat offender, with 13 similar cases registered in Telangana and 16 in Andhra Pradesh. A non-bailable warrant is also pending against him.
The scam came to light following a complaint lodged by Ajit Reddy, special secretary to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, on May 18, prompting police to launch an investigation and apprehend the accused. He has been booked under relevant sections of the law for impersonation and online fraud.
Authorities have urged the public and business leaders to verify communications from government officials and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
