Ongole: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ongole, on Saturday registered a disproportionate assets case against Yadala Maheswara Rao, Revenue Officer of Vinukonda Municipality and In-charge Municipal Commissioner of Darsi Municipality, for allegedly amassing assets far beyond his known sources of income.
Case registered under Prevention of Corruption Act
Based on credible information, the ACB registered a case in Crime No. 1/RCA-ACB-ONG/2026 under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018), and initiated an investigation into the allegations.
Simultaneous searches at five locations
As part of the probe, ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches on January 31, 2026, at five locations in Darsi, Narasaraopeta, and Sattenapalli, connected to the accused and his relatives.
During the searches, officials seized incriminating material, including property documents and financial records.
Properties and valuables unearthed
According to ACB officials, the accused allegedly acquired several properties in his name and in the names of his mother, wife, and son.
Immovable assets seized include:
9 house plots
2 residential flats
Agricultural land measuring Ac. 0.89 cents
Movable assets seized include:
Cash of approximately Rs 2.60 lakh
Bank deposits of about Rs 55,000
Gold ornaments weighing around 729 grams
Silver articles weighing 9.275 kg
One car and three motorcycles
Valuable household articles
Further searches are still underway, officials said.
Arrest to follow due procedure
The ACB stated that the accused will be formally arrested following due legal procedure and produced before the Special Court for ACB Cases in Nellore.
Career background of the accused
Yadala Maheswara Rao joined the Municipal Administration Department in 1998 as a Bill Collector on compassionate grounds at Sattenapalli Municipality.
Over the years, he was promoted as Junior Assistant and later as Senior Assistant, serving in Nellore, Chilakaluripeta, Narasaraopeta, and Vinukonda municipalities.
He was subsequently promoted as Revenue Officer and posted at Vinukonda Municipality. For the past three years, he has also been functioning as the In-charge Municipal Commissioner of Darsi Municipality, Prakasam district.
