Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police arrested a notorious burglar on 5 November and recovered 35 tulas gold worth over Rs. 17.50 lakh and cash worth Rs. 1.25 lakh.
The arrested has been identified as 25-year-old Nenavath Vinod Kumar alias Akhilesh Kumar of Amangal mandal in Ranga Reddy district.
According to the police, Vinod dropped out of college where he was pursuing a B.Tech degree and started committing crimes to make easy money to support his vices. Between 2014 and 2019, he was involved in as many as 42 cases and detained three times under the P.D. Act - in 2015 and 2019 by the Hyderabad police and in 2017 by the Rachakonda police.
After he was released from jail in January 2020, he once again started committing house burglaries with the help of two accomplices, Katravath Rajesh, an auto driver, and Shakeel. The former has been arrested while the latter is absconding.
Following a tip-off, the east zone task force along with the Charminar police, apprehended the accused. Vinod and the seized property were handed over to the SHO of Charminar police station for further action. Efforts are being made to nab the absconding accused.
