Hyderabad: 254 kg ganja seized en route from Araku to UP; 5 peddlers held
The total worth of the contraband seized is worth Rs 1 crore
By Newsmeter Network Published on 10 Sep 2024 1:18 PM GMTHyderabad: As much as 254 kg of dry Ganja worth over Rs 88 lakhs was seized from five drug peddlers transporting the contraband from Araku in Andhra Pradesh to Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai via Telangana. The total worth of the contraband seized is worth Rs 1 crore.
The gang travelling in a Maruti was intercepted by the Cyberabad SOT along with the Rajendranagar police and their vehicle yielded the drug.
On Tuesday, acting on specific information, the sleuths of Cyberabad Special Operations Team (SOT), Rajendranagar team along with Rajendranagar Police apprehended five drug peddlers for transporting Ganja and other objects worth Rs 1,04,65,700 from Vishakhapatnam to Uttar Pradesh and, Mumbai via Hyderabad.
The accused have been identified as Thakur Sachin Singh, Mohd Nadeem, Mohd Saqlain, Mohd Saleem and Prasanth Singh. All are residents of Uttar Pradesh.
Modus operandi
Thakur Sachin Singh and Vinod Kumar Yadav have been transporting dry Ganja for five years from the Araku Valley of AP to Uttar Pradesh.
During the last three months they have visited Araku Valley and purchased dry ganja from a person name Raju and sold them to Amit Singh. They also purchased a pistol which they keep with them while transporting Ganja.
On reliable information the SOT Rajendranagar team along with Rajendranagar Police intercepted two vehicles at ORR service road Near Exit No 17 and seized the packets containing 254 kg of Dry Ganja worth Rs 88,90,000.
On seeing the police, two persons Vinod Kumar Yadav and Ravinder Yadav fled from the scene. Further, the police apprehended five respondents and seized 254 kg Dry Ganja, a 32 country-made pistol from Thakur Sachin Singh with 11 rounds along with two vehicles.
A case has been registered and the investigation is on.
