Hyderabad: A 28-year-old aspiring anchor, residing in Srinagar Colony, has fallen victim to a fraud related to the popular television show, Big Boss.

The incident came to light after the woman reported the matter to the Jubilee Hills police, revealing her ordeal involving a person named Tamili Raju from Jagadgirigutta.

The sequence of events unfolded when the anchor expressed her eagerness to participate in the Big Boss Show to a person named Satya, who claimed to be the Production In-charge at Maa TV's Annapurna Studio. On June 7, 2023, Satya contacted her, instructing her to meet Tamili Raju at Hayath Palace for a discussion.

Trusting Satya's credentials, the woman accompanied by a friend, went to Hayath Palace. Satya introduced her to Tamili Raju, Assuring her a guaranteed spot on the Big Boss Show. However, the catch was a demand for Rs.5,00,000/- to cover costs for costumes and publicity.

Convinced of the opportunity, she transferred the money through Phonepe on the same day. In return, Tamili Raju handed her a cheque and a signed agreement. Despite the completion of the stipulated period in the agreement, Swapna found herself excluded from the Big Boss Show. When she confronted Tamili Raju for a refund, he not only denied having any funds but also issued threats.

Based on the woman's complaint, Jubliee hills police have registered a case under sections 406 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and currently under investigation.
