Hyderabad: 3 laborers killed, 2 injured after scaffolding of under-construction building collapses
Two labourers died on the spot while another succumbed at the hospital
By Newsmeter Network Published on 8 Sep 2023 3:05 AM GMTHyderabad: Three migrant laborers died and two others were injured when a scaffolding of an under-construction building collapsed at Addagutta in KPHB Colony on Thursday.
The incident occurred when a group of workers were working on the sixth floor of the building and the wooden scaffolding is suspected to have given way due to overloading. The workers fell six storeys to the ground.
Two labourers died on the spot while another succumbed at the hospital. The deceased workers were natives of Malkangiri district in Odisha. The injured are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
At around 7 a.m. on Thursday, the workers reported for work at the construction site. While they got onto the scaffolding and started work on the sixth floor of the building, it collapsed.
Five workers Santhu Badnayak, Soniya Challan, Balaram Badnayak, Soniya Badnayak, and Budha Badnayak - fell from a height of over 60 feet.
Santhu Badnayak (23), and Soniya Challan (19) died on the spot, while Soniya Badnayak,18, died at the hospital..
Police are yet to identify the owner of the building. Police and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) staff rescued the trapped workers.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
