Hyderabad: Around 488 people were caught red-handed while teasing and harassing women during Ganesh Chaturthi festivities.
To provide a safe environment to women in public places as well as during transit, SHE Teams patrol around crowded and scheduled areas where there is a possibility of harassment or eve-teasing. Wherever such harassment or teasing is noticed, the culprits are nabbed with video evidence. Accordingly, cases are registered against the culprits.

From September 18 to 28, the teams caught 488 at Bada Ganesh, NTR Marg, Tank Bund, and Khairatabad with video evidence. The accused committed the crime when the women were waiting in queues or performing religious duties.
The accused include auto drivers and, private and government employees. They were touching women inappropriately, passing lewd comments, and making obscene gestures.
Of the total cases registered, accused in 122 were produced before court where they were sentenced to three to six days in jail. In 111 cases, the accused were warned and counseled. Accused in 255 cases are to be produced before the Court.
